Too many ads, too much repetition
After two seasons, i can’t tell you how many times I’ve heard the intro, in which he literally introduces himself as M William Phelps. Author of 44 true crime novels. WHO introduces themselves this way? His name as it turns out is Matthew. If you’re spending sixteen hours listening to somebody, they could at least introduce themselves by their actual name instead of their Barnes and Noble search alternative. I only know his first name because when he calls witnesses he literally still introduces himself as M William Phelps followed by “You can call me Matthew”. What the actual?? Cringey af. Then there are the adverts. Excessive. Massively excessive. Then there is the repetition and subject of the adverts. Why a 44 year old woman from the uk, listening to a true crime podcast would want to hear a super loud ad for the nfl four times in one episode is beyond me. It’s not as though the “investigations” go anywhere either.

Ok storytelling, but repeated use of the word “ex-pecially” instead of especially and “supposably” instead of supposedly distracted me from the storyline. Bummer. I was looking forward to a new true crime podcast!
