Only for the right audience
I tried to like this podcast, and was a regular listener for the first dozen or so, but eventually I just came to hate Pumphrey and his sense of humor. For me, his bits are often cringey and far too drawn out. Some people will love his humor, but I personally find it a bit childish in nature. As others have mentioned, the political alignments of the donut crew are frequently and unashamedly plastered over many of the episodes, in a way that makes feel less like a car podcast and more like an opinion piece. I think that because of these factors this podcast is only appealing to a very niche group of car enthusiasts that gel with Pumphrey’s humor, as it often dominates every episode, frequently interrupting bits of the history being talked about.
