Consolation of Philosophy by far my favourite interpretation. Easy to memorise as well.

You might consider raising the general volume of the podcasts as they seem quieter than others

A great overview but he talks SO quickly that it's hard to absorb the analysis. He also does not pause at all at the end of sentences or between sections. Just a one second pause would make a world of difference! Please!Read full review »

An interesting, concise, well-spoken, and thoughtful podcast; a thoroughly enjoyable introduction to classical philosophy.

there are loads of rubbish and a few good philosophy podcasts, this is probably the best out of all them, if what you are after is explanations and details about the most famous philosophers, youwill not find a better podcast than this

Nigel explains and analyzes famous philosophical works in a way that is easy to understand. He has a pleasant voice, and speaks at a good pace. This is one of the best podcasts out there.

This podcast is just Nigel Warburton reading from his book. I have been tutoring in Philosophy for a few months, and we use this Podcast as a starting point for examining many of the key texts in Western philosophy. Compared to other well-known philosophy summarizers (e.g. Russell), Warburton is...Read full review »

Warburton successfully communicates dense concepts from great thinkers while saving us from any potential Continental flourishes of pretense. His ambition to communicate depth as well as breadth reminds me of Russell. And while his biases definitely shine through at times, this actually serves to...Read full review »

I listened to this while cleaning up mu appartment. I have an exam in philosophy in aboit 2 weeks and found this very usefull to freshen up what i've learned. If you, like me, find great interrest in philosophy but find the reading a bit brutal sometimes, then this is really great! 5 stars.

This podcast series isn't all that great. The lack of any change of tone or interest in his voice is the major negative. It just sounds like he's reading 'flash cards' he's made after making notes on his book.Read full review »

Having not studying philosophy in school, this podcast has piqued my interest in understanding the basics of the most well known philosophers. I've also come to realise the influence of philosophers on one of my favourite band, Lungs and Adam Lees in particular. Thanks Nigel for a great, easy...Read full review »

The selection available is lacking the good stuff. Where is the existentialist phenomenology? I urge the podcasters to release readings of Husserl, Ponty, and/or Marion. Heidegger too. Look for it!

Another winner. Thank you, Nigel.

I like this podcast, it gives me the chance to brush up on my philosophy and try to keep philosophers and their work put netaly on the shelves in my brain. the only reason I gave it 4 and not 5 stars is because the section of the podcast with the critique of the philosophers could be much longer...Read full review »

Everything can be questioned on some front or other, any minor quibbles can be set aside; these podcasts offer bite size insights on some of the greatest thinkers of all time, to have access to these podcasts is a joy.

This podcast is well produced and the information is presented very clearly. I certainly hope it continues, keep up the great work.

The author has a nice voice and explains philosophy really well. I wish this podcast existed as a companion to the texts I read in college. Only negatives are that he narrates really quickly, the transition between subheadsis awkward, and the podcasts end abruptly.

I love this podcast. Sometimes Nigel presents ideas so fast that you can't digest the concept before he moves on (not easy listening subjectmatter). Keep your rewind button handy or just listen to them 2 or 3 times to start to understand what the philosophers he's paraphrazing are getting...Read full review »

Nice introduction to the subject and good quality production. Some complain it's not in depth enough, but of course he has to make a living, so he probably sells the more advanced and in depth materal, which is fair enough.Read full review »

Loved his voice and tone throughout the podcast. I could listen to him talk all day... in love! On a serious note, he really dumbs this down to a level we can understand!

Well done. Concise, to the point, Nigel makes listening enjoyable. The negative one star posting for this podcast, I think, is from someone who has very little interest or capacity for philosophical discourse. My only complaint for this Podcast is the fact that some time elapses between casts.Read full review »

For someone like me who has never read much philosophy before, but knows Monty Python by heart, this was an excellent series introducing in brief, lucid segments all those names I had heard about but was otherwise ignorant of. I must buy the book!

I found this podcast very enjoyable to listen to because Warburton presents the ideas of these various philosophers in an easy to understand way (except for Kant). Great if you want a quick telling of the selected thinkers

Nigel knows his stuff and presents here a 10-12 minute overview of a great philosophical work, each podcast. Unfortunately, he does not use punctuation whilst speaking so one sentence or paragraph flows into the next creating a relentless, and oftentimes, monotonous listening experience.

This podcast comes in twenty minute chunks explaining the basic points of a philosophical work, and any major objections to the ideas put forward. Perfect for a commute, but sometimes I find the overview a little too cursory--but perhaps that's the point.Read full review »

Nigel's voice is engaging which brings the material to life and makes every subject easy to understand. The podcast seems to end oddly, with criticisms of the work but with no real summary or conclusion. Other than the abrupt ending, it is an excellent philosophy podcast.Read full review »
