“Just listened to the episode about buddies having a cool one while hunting with the Cessna. As for amazing and verifiable stories.... got to check out the Ontario provincial air service pilot that flew back to base after loosing his arm to a prop strike while rescuing his blown off hat. Back in the 50s I think, great story I learned of while visiting the Canadian bushplane heritage centre in Sault Ste. Marie Ontario. Amazing place to visit. Really showcases the dramatic improvement the dhc2 was over its predecessors. Having flown Cessna, beaver,Norseman and polish otter ..... dehavilland is orders of magnitude better. If a pilot needs to be brought into line.... nothing like putting them on the Norseman or Cessna for a bit. Great podcast. Love the discussion of ifr stuff. Situational awareness is king, whether it’s by the rules or not. Setting up your own approaches for lakes on cavu days helps on clag days. GPS really makes nav and approaches orders of magnitude simpler. Would be 5 star if there was a bit more about off airport stuff. Nice photo of 185, bit more on floats/unprepared strips would be great!”
