“They say the problem with the Republican Party is that their voters are crazy and the problem with the Democratic Party is that their donors/activists/staffers are crazy. This podcast proves that point for the democrats at least. The democratic base is actually quite moderate according to most every poll and election (hi Biden victory in 2020) but the party and its elected officials are captive to an extreme class of primarily white progressives educated at elite universities where they’ve never met a moderate religious Hispanic let alone a Republican. These leftist Cornell/Stanford grads make up every democrat’s staff in Washington and are convinced that the Bernie Coalition is 3 times its actual size. They’ve lost any shred of the Clintonian instinct to triangulate and appeal to a moderate audience and they’re bleeding nonwhite working class voters as a result. It would be one thing if Pod Save America was conscious of their unpopular worldview vis-a-vis the average voter and tried to make a case for woke politics to a skeptical listener, instead they clearly have disdain for that kind of persuasion and can’t imagine that they might be the vanguard of a condescending minority alienating their own voters.”
