“Never thought I’d say this but I enjoy listening to a show co-hosted by a guy that roots for USC.
I’ve been following the Pac 12 and its previous iterations for nearly 40 years (as my father and grand fathers did before me) and I’ve always appreciated its rich traditions: bitter rivalries, gloating about championships from the 1800s, self-cannibalization, crying about east coast bias, Pac 12 after dark, Bill Walton & Dave Pasch, HBR case study-level mismanagement, rooting along with whatever member institution stumbled their way into national relevance and watching USC woefully underperform against their unreasonable preseason expectations.
Podcast of Champions encapsulates all of that into a digestible format and has created a community of like-minded masochists. Both hosts are thoughtful, funny, self deprecating and well informed. They do a great job of covering the conference beyond just those at the top of the standings. They have great rapport, an engaged fanbase and seem like genuinely likable dudes. And most importantly, Ryan sounds distractingly like Tom Sharpling.
I’m mostly writing this to tell Ryan and David we appreciate your hard work and hope you’ll keep the podcast alive after the Pac 12 goes dark so we can all remember what once was. And, you can’t run away from us that easily USC - sco Ducks.”
