“Pains me to rate this show like this and the rating is not a reflection on the guests, the subject matter or even the host’s chronic inability to handle minor technical details like sound quality.
Started listening to this podcast in September 2014 casually, until I realized the subject could not be more fascinating or deeply meaningful on a scale we can barely fathom. This is why when these two squirrelly-voiced hosts take this on their intellectual lacking, even their inability to convey their own feeling or insights really show they come up short against men like Hynek & Friedman and many others.
The host is often nervous and inarticulate. I was so grateful to him in the beginning when I started listening but his failings are so irritatingly consistent! It kills me that he has inserted himself, somehow in this story, this grand, developing phenomena. He is a tourist of the subject —happy to rub elbows and ask for money at UFO conferences. He often never bothers to read or familiarize himself with his guests’ work before interviewing his guests, who are forced to carry the weight of the show. As a host he seldom engages guests, instead, choosing to interview by the numbers.
Hey, Mr. Willis, watch some old Charlie Rose interviews —maybe take a journalism course, seriously!
I know what he would think if he reads this, “fine, don’t listen to the show!” —he has often voiced disdain at critics before. Not good enough, Martin. You chose to put yourself out there and even want to charge people money —that’s fine, I love capitalism But, how about raising your game, then? This is a subject a care deeply about and you are degrading the quality of the discussion around it.
Please, someone out there with gravitas, with intellect and with ability to convey humanity and wrestle deep mysteries come along and take over the UFO Podcast!”
