“The apologias for capitalism might just as easily be called “no true capitalist”: insert Mao and Stalin and listen to a leftist claim they did not follow the true path and it’s the same as these two constantly avoiding the fact that it was Reagan, Greenspan(Ayn Rand protege), Clinton’s NAFTA and GATT, the Bush era, and Obama letting the institutions which had acquired the most capital off the hook for the GFC which have brought us to where we are.
Every “ism” has to be honest about the way in which it ends up actually manifesting in the real world, and not just how it is described by true believers in its most perfect state. A little more time addressing the problems we’re facing and a little less time talking about the evils of socialism in a country which doesn’t even have universal health care...which even the most right wing of right wing parties in the rest of the world wouldn’t do away with...my be more productive.”
