“Makes you appreciate how good some journalism interviewers actually are. Merrick seems to need some training in interview skills. An ok effort but a bit amateurish... take some tips from Richard Fiddler, he gets so much out of his guests by connecting/empathising strongly with each person. He then just uses a mostly focused minimal question style, to get the guest to feel at ease and open up. Pre-interview preparation seems important also, so you know your guests history pretty well before you sit down with them.”

“I had to turn off the episode on Michael Hutchence. In the first 10 min Merrick talks about “Michael’s dead body laying on the floor” at least 6 times. An otherwise good story from a cop interviewed really poorly.”
