Nicole Malliotakis is one of a record number of Republican women who were elected to Congress this fall. She defeated first-term Democratic Congressman Max Rose in New York’s 11th Congressional District, which includes Staten Island and parts of South Brooklyn. In recent weeks, Staten Island has seen an increase in the number of COVID-19 infections and the COVID-19 death rate is now higher there than any other borough in New York City.
