“What a great idea for a podcast. I myself was 7 years old when I started reading Harry Potter, just around the time Prisoner of Azkaban came out. Hearing Lily as she experiences the books at the same age is such an amazing moment, it makes me happy they can still affect people today in the same way they affected me.
Joel is a great host, there have been a couple occasions where I have been mildly frustrated at some mistakes he makes (eg. Differences between the books/movies) but we can let those few slide slide. Overall he very coherent, organised and does a very good job discussing the themes, ideas and intricacies of the books.
He has also clearly done a good job raising his daughter. I'm curious if I was anywhere near as smart as Lily at the same age because I am really surprised by how much of the material she actually gets. The genius of these books are that they can appeal to all age ranges and you'll constantly discover new things to more you read them. I'll be following this podcast through to it's conclusion.”
