“Baseball podcasts often treat prospects as a throw away subject, suitable only for last round fliers. ‘Prospect One’, however, gives the prospect prime time billing. Prospects are the shows #one, #two and #three priority.
Anyone in a dynasty league, or a redraft league, or anyone who wants to know about their teams prospects and doesn’t care about fantasy will benefit and enjoy this show.
“Prospect growth isn’t linear” and “don’t make up your mind based on the stat line alone” is a truism of minor league development and is one of the major takeaways I’ve had from this show. The Welsh does a great job of covering a players raw stats but his main focus is on first hand accounts. He has seen every player in the Arizona Fall League this year and posts great clips on his twitter account @isitthewelsh (yes, it is The Welsh). In the Prospect game it’s important to get a sense of how a player looks out on the field and The Welsh has great access and great insights.
