Virtual Healthcare Technologies: Telemedicine & Patient Satisfaction
Listen now
Description
The ongoing pandemic has disrupted many of our routines, including the way we engage with our healthcare providers. According to a national survey commissioned by the Canadian Medical Association, Canadians who connected with their doctor virtually during the pandemic reported a 91% satisfaction rate, which was 17% higher than in-person emergency room visits. This raises more questions as access to broadband high-speed internet connection and mobile devices remain a barrier for many populations.  In this episode of the Public Health Insight Podcast, Dr. Keith Thompson joins us to speak about telehealth, the various ways in which it can be delivered to serve patients, and how the pandemic has influenced the availability and uptake of telemedicine services.
