40/60 I’m out
I love the premise of being returned to the 90’s, the Ricki Lake show does hold the top spot me for me when comparing other similar shows of that era. Ricki is able to bring that warmth and compassion thro to the podcast, However I feel that there is too much focus on how revolutionary the show was, it is a continual Ricki ego stroker and it seems to be contagious within Ricki’s own opinionated commentary.. Her co-host Kalen is great, however I wonder what the strategy was in selecting him. I often find him doing subtle damage control when Ricki has put her foot in it, which he does with grace. I specifically recall him self promoting a show he is judging in soon to be met with crickets in the background. He also is great at bringing the conversation back to earth when Ricki gets too caught up in her self indulgent celebrity mother Teresa love Bubble… I’ve tried giving this podcast a second/ third chance coz I loved the show.. but unfortunately this review marks me unsubscribing..
