Goal-Setting Myths and Truths for Startups
Listen now
Description
Founder, you’ve been incorrectly taught how to vision and set goals. In this episode, I reveal why conventional goal-setting education for founders is truly outdated and ineffective. I also teach how to use a more practical and personalized approach to goal-setting and growth that will actually speed you up. Rethinking Traditional Accelerator Approaches Contrary to popular belief, you don't need a lofty mission or vision statement to steer your startup toward greatness.  A lofty mission or vision statement and a ‘Big Scary Goal’ can actually harm your startup because they affect your founder-brain and neurobiology. Accelerators that teach founders to set loft visions and use the old-fashioned "Big Scary Goal" formulas are not trauma-informed and are not up to speed on the latest neuroscience. A SMART goal is also not a great tool if the goal is unnecessary to begin with… So, instead of following the hype and trying to "go big" with vision/mission statements (which will cause you to have too many goals and KPIs), focus on a few essential components that will help you focus your founder-brain only on what matters. By debunking myths surrounding goal-setting and teaching you what really matters to move the needle, you'll be able to navigate your startup much more effectively and see traction faster than if you fall into the trap of the hyped-up BIG Scary Goal. Tune-in and let’s get you setting goals in a more effective way, founder. In this episode, you'll learn: > Why lofty mission or vision statements and Big Scary Goals actually hinder startup growth  > Why conventional goal-setting education for founders is outdated and ineffective > The 4 things that you should be crystal clear about ( your vision is not one of them) > How to set great goals so you reduce overwhelm, stress, and the fast-paced startup culture without slowing down your progress Mentioned in this episode: > Shout out to Malet Bruset of GroGro > Learn more about working with Kari:  dobusinessbetterschool.com/coaching
