“I subscribed to The Athletic for the great sports content.
I unsubscribed because of the constant political content.
I’m an essential worker, I live alone, and I have PTSD (from REAL trauma, not the alleged trauma of seeing something happen to someone else on TV). And I’ve been told that I don’t deserve the escape that sports can provide during a global pandemic because wanting sports without the added stress of politics apparently makes me an immoral person.
If you people only knew how much collateral damage you’re causing to good, decent people who genuinely care, but don’t want politics in their faces everyday because it negatively impacts their mental health in ways that I guess you can’t understand.
I unsubscribed from The Athletic but I kept listening to Raptors Reasonablists. But now that I’m hearing ads during the show about a new culture/politics podcast from The Athletic I’m just totally done with all of it. I’m not supporting any of this stuff in any way anymore.
And it’s pathetic that The Athletic is trying to lure me back with $1/month offers. I wouldn’t re-subscribe if it was free.”
