Charles Wright, the 2014-2015 U.S. Poet Laureate, is one of the most important American poets writing today. Born in 1935 in Pickwick Dam, Tennessee, he is the author of over 20 books of poetry. His many honors include the Pulitzer Prize, the National Book Award, and the National Book Critics Circle Award. In 2014, he was named Poet Laureate of the United States.
