Description
Homelessness is on the rise across the country even before the pandemic, but Changing Homeless,  a not-for-profit organization in Jacksonville, Florida, has been making strides in decreasing homelessness in its community and state. In this episode, Dawn Gilman, CEO at Changing Homelessness, talked to us about her work. She shares how the organization assists homeless people in the community, some of their successes and their challenges, how COVID has impacted the number of homeless, the collaborations and programs they do to engage and assist both landlords and homeless people, and how they leverage data to help those most vulnerable in the homeless population. With the past ten years of housing people showing an 85% success rate, Changing Homelessness has already made a small dent in street homelessness. Dawn is committed to forging onwards and doing more so they can reduce homelessness to 50%. Listen and be inspired by the incredible work Dawn and her team is doing in this insightful conversation! --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/fran-ayalasomayajula/support
