“I’m a hippie-ish homeschooling mom of 3 (2 who’ve graduated), and a big fan of this podcast. What I love about the host, Sarah: her beautifully cheery voice, her enthusiasm for connecting with kids through books, and her peaceful/grounded, experienced and well-researched approach to raising lifelong learners and lovers of reading. What I love about the podcast: It’s an encouragement to me as both a mom and a reader. Fun interviews with a variety of great guest authors and educators. Overall, I LOVE this show. The only “critique” I have is that, as someone who no longer participates in organized religion, the podcast sometimes assumes a Christian mindset/audience, that can feel a bit off-putting. That said, I do very much appreciate that when Sarah makes religious-toned asides, she does so in a cheering-you-on, kindhearted way that I admire. Not unlike Mister Rogers—of whom I am a huge fangirl! A few of my favorite episodes: Hey Mamas, Reading for Pleasure is Part of the Job Helping your ADHD or Dyslexic Child Love Reading Reading Aloud as an Obstinate Act of Love, with Meghan Cox Gurdon How to Introduce Your Kids to Shakespeare”
