God intro but the American bias is strong
The podcasts are well-researched and entertaining for an alpha-male kind of audience, but it is tiresome to hear the host mispronounce Spanish names repeatedly, without making apparent effort to get it right, and the swaggering narration glorifying the drug trade only diminishes the complexity of this history. Even worst, it is unnecessary and unwelcome to have sound bites of US officials referring to El Salvador, Nicaragua, and other sites of Latin American violence as “nasty” places, all with very little self-reflection of the US’s implication in the ecosystems that gave rise to this violence.

Fascinating serialised podcast about The rise of Escobar. Thought I knew a lot about this guy but this is a great insight. Can’t wait for the next episode..

What a great podcast, informative, great commentary and brilliantly put together. So worth a listen if only all podcast were this good. Do yourself a favour and listen to it.
