“I used to like this podcast but recently some remarks Suruthi has made have really put me off. She frequently says really off handed things about Muslims that don’t sit right. I’m not fully immersed in the Masih Alinejad-Ilhan Omar feud, but they, with zero context, condemned Ilhan for calling Masih islamophobic. The important context? Masih wrote several articles opposing Ilhan’s bill against Islamophobia. As two non Muslim women, I don’t think they should be weighing in on a political issue they clearly don’t understand. Suruthi also said that Iran invented Islamophobia to prevent people from criticizing their abhorrent human rights abuses. Not sure what she meant by that, because clearly Islamophobia has been rampant since 9/11, but she made no attempt to clarify. They come off as extremely privileged and ignorant but also smug. It’s not a good vibe.”
