Human Rights Consortium When Refugee Status Ends; Repatriation or Integration? Dr Maarten den Heijer (Amsterdam Center for International Law) Maarten den Heijer is assistant professor of international law at the Amsterdam Center for International Law. He is vice-chairman of the Standing Committee of Experts on International Immigration, Refugee and Criminal law, member of the editorial board of the caselaw journal European Human Rights Cases (EHRC) and contributor to the Dutch Journal for Human Rights (NJCM-Bulletin). He is also a member of the board of the Foundation for Refugee Students UAF. His research themes include international and European asylum and immigration law, human rights and state responsibility. Maarten den Heijer previously worked as policy officer for the Dutch Refugee Council and as legislative lawyer for the Dutch Ministry of the Interior and Kingdom Relations. He holds degrees in Law and Political Science from the University of Leiden, where he also received his Ph.D (cum laude). Professor den Heijer’s seminar will consider issues relating to the cessation of refugee status. He will focus on how cessation is constructed under the EU's qualification directive and its implementation in Member States. 5th International Refugee Law seminar series
