“I just finished the first 3 podcasts of Remarkably Human and here are some gems from each.
#1 “. . . then I’m attached to something that’s going at 90 miles an hour.” Stan Heil
#2 “Don’t let experiences happen to you, make experiences happen for you.” Joel Zaslofsky
#3 “No one is better or faster than you, only less afraid.” Stan Beecham
3 things stood out to me as I was listening.
First was that the people being interviewed were already remarkable humans, not wannabe’s not ivory tower researchers, but people who performed at a world class level, even in the case of Joel for whom world class meant being world class at being productive to others.
Second was that Roderick Russell, himself, is already a remarkable human. Not just because of his performances (which can be sampled on you tube, and though I haven’t seen them in person, my nephew has, and he was astonished), but because he uses his own experience to get better, more useful insights from his subjects than the typical interviewer. And he does a great job at finding accomplished people with unique, useful insights.
But the third, the big takeaway that slowly grew on me as I was listening the unvarnished, non-sugarcoated very pragmatic insights was that Roderick wasn’t just creating a showcase of amazing people, but of practical ideas, ideas that I could start using right now to be more Remarkably Human myself.
Kudos Roderick, not just for being remarkable, or finding remarkable people, but for doing everything in your power to bring out the Remarkably Human in all of us!!!”
