I wanted to love this (take 2)
My last review got submitted prematurely, hopefully it is not posted. I hate rewriting things so I will simply summarize the following: I fell in love with Alex Blumberg (from a podcasting perspective) with Start Up. I had the same giddy feeling I had when I start listening to TAL years ago. The subject was great, but it was more about the way the story was told, as if we were all taking his journey together. My first Gimlet listening was Serial- truthfully I stopped and started the first episode three times because I couldn’t envision how it would hook me. Sixty minutes later I listened back-to-back for three hours straight. I love it. With Reply All, the first episode was pretty entertaining, but I am very sad to report I have not been compelled to even finish the 2nd and 3rd. I don’t consider myself a “techie” but in my mind a good podcast could be about anything and keep you engaged. After 3 episodes I feel like I have no feel for who the hosts are, or what their repartee is together. Really it just leaves me wanting to hear more Start Up episodes. I hope Alex Blumberg doesn’t lose sight of the fact his company came to fruition because of our adoration of him as a personality on the virtual air, This is exemplified by the fact he literally had to turn away investors within hours of a call for support. it would be a true loss for the podcasting community for him to end up only behind the scenes. I will stick with this for a few more episodes, mostly in support of Gimlet media and for my faith in Alex.

Reply All is great! Alex and PJ are the best “will-they-won’t-they” in podcasting.
