“For the fan of old Macintosh computers, this podcast series is a must. When I discovered it, I binged out on (then) 300 or so past episodes.
To be sure, despite the title, it is mostly about vintage Macintoshes. It is actually a homage to Apple, once Apple Computer, as well as all things with the 6-computed-Apple logo.
There are two hosts: James & John. The former is fan of all things Apple and frequently expounds on Apple‘s current offerings, which become interesting as these eventually become retro. John is, in my opinion, the far more interesting presenters of the two, in that he has more experiences that affect the modern collector of 30-year-old tech. I have picked more than a few tips from John. He does once to record a enthusiastic outro instead of having to have unenthusiastically say it at the end of every episode.
Despite my fondness of the show, I have only given the podcast 4 out of 5 for these reasons:
A. The eBay picks give either metaphorical oxygen to massively overpriced products with the old Apple logo on it or
B. give metaphorical oxygen to sellers of overpriced Macintoshes. These sellers are parasites and help distort the market as well
They could spend more time talking about period software, utilities and games. The things that I have learnt from the podcast have helped me greatly (SCSI2SD being a good example). When they do interviews, these are usually well worth listening to.”
