In this episode, I bring emerging artist and Founder & Creative Director of Strange Fruit Zine, Carolyn (Lyn) Rose Grayson to the sanctuary for storytelling and cultural exchange! Carolyn Rose-Grayson is an emerging multi-sdisciplinary artist based in Fayetteville, North Carolina. Her work aims to explore the human condition and the intersections of identity in an ever-changing landscape, while also empowering and uplifting the experiences of historically marginalized communities, all through creative means. Carolyn’s latest project, ‘Strange Fruit Zine,’ features a collection of works, made by her and other artists, addressing themes of transgressive resistance in QTBIPOC communities. Together, we reflect on and harvest the lessons + gifts of growing up Black & Queer in the rural South. I had the honor of discovering Lyn and her body of work...after a mutual connection with Southern Equality Studios and I am ever so grateful to have connected with this soul sister of the strange and beautifully authentic. Ain’t no better strange than this. As 2022 unfolds, you can catch Lyn weaving together exhibits with other artists around the South, excerpts in Strange Fruit Zine and syncing up with other Earth angels who are on divine assignment.
