History The Way It Should Be: Kind of Made Up
As I float in my Texas-shaped swimming pool in American flag trunks, slamming another Bud Light and shooting guns in the air to celebrate freedom, I can’t help but wonder if there’s a better history podcast than Totalus Rankium. Rob and Jamie have fun with history that is by no means boring, nor complete through sources, and they enhance it. They engage the subject, they make it their own. Songs are written, conjectures made, and all in all, Ancient Rome becomes more accessible and engaging through their work. You should listen to this, if for no other reason than to enjoy the constant sniggering at the name “Pupienus,” the first-rate after-show skits, and of course, the spot-on American impressions. I look very forward to the second season on American Presidents, and will send video of my bald eagles cawwing the theme song in harmony once they stop getting scared by the constant fireworks being set off from the back of my pick-up truck.
