Podcaster would benefit from a course on disability studies, speaking with an SLP, an OT, a deaf/blind interpreter. There are assistive devices that can allow people to communicate simply using their eye gaze. Very disrespectful terminology, decreased value being put onto individuals with disabilities, and feeding into the assumption that persons who are non verbal or neurodivergent should be treated differently. The community supports person-first language, empowering terminology, and the presence of ongoing respect. Golden rule is to ALWAYS speak to people with the assumption that they can understand and comprehend everything. Do not talk down, do not baby/pity, do not assume lack of cognition. Treat all humans as HUMANS.

I was very interested in this story. The reporter is awfully selfish. She’s hard to listen to and makes the whole story about her in one way or another. I'm invested in the mystery of Sixty Six Garage, but the narration is rather hackneyed and trite, and the journalist inserts FAR too much of herself into this story. She has a way of making every detail of the story a reflection of her own history.Read full review »
