“They are called STEALS, not “stolen bases” — at least when every other human being refers to them when speaking...
U guys use four syllables to say “stolen bases,” instead of one to simply call them “steals” (like every other baseball fan during my 30 years on this earth.
It reminds me of the pathetic football commentators who call it “THE NATIONAL FOOTBALL LEAGUE,” instead of simply saying The NFL”; who call it “THE FOOTBALL FIELD” instead of “the field”; who always say “RUN THE FOOTBALL” instead of just “run the ball”; who say “THE SAN FRANCISCO 49ers” instead of just saying “the 49ers” or “niners”...
You guys remind me of the 3rd-grader who is writing in complete sentences on his homework bc his teacher told him to “make sure you write in complete sentences!”..:
