“I love how you read the sponsorship ads, also. It isn’t as disruptive as just letting an ad roll.
I will try to explain why I can’t stop listening to this podcast as someone who is terrified of being murdered. My friends say it would just make them anxious.
For me in a way it eases my anxiety into a form that feels more productive. I am a survivor of a lifetime of abuse so I will always worry about every human I pass at the train station. Stephanie talks about real things that really happened to real people and it makes me feel a little more prepared.
NOT that listening to true crime protects me from random acts of violence, it’s just that listening to true crime makes me feel like I might skip that initial moment of denial, of “this can’t be happening,” of “people don’t do this to people,” and jump right into “I’m about to be attacked, is there anything I can do right now?” in those precious few moments of registering my circumstances.
Stephanie gets it.”
