Funny, informative and relevant.
Interviews are one of the most entertaining ways of storytelling. When done well, the listener can learn, understand and empathise with the interviewee; regardless of whether they identify as the same gender, race, age or sexuality. Ruck My Life connects those magical moments of authenticity and honesty with comedy. Christian John uses his skills as a teacher and storyteller to delve into the fast-growing niche of inclusive sport, particularly IGR (International Gay Rugby). He documents his experience as an out, gay, rugby union player and speaks to others (a different guest every week) whom he has connections with across the IGR network. Sensitively and skilfully these stories are portrayed as a colourful tapestry of inclusivity and sportsmanship. Each guest is asked to share their story; of coming out, their perception of sport from an early age and how they became a member of an IGR team. You can’t help but feel the pride of these players as stories of first training sessions or favourite match moments are recalled with glee. Ruck My Life is a love-letter to the positivity that sport can bring to our lives. Whilst still in its infancy, as Christian admits, this podcast has reached all corners of the globe with now over 1000 listeners. Each episode I welcome with delight and I wonder who’s captivating story will come next. A must-listen for those involved in inclusive sports.

This podcast is fantastic and it’s great to hear stories from all walks of LBGTQ+ backgrounds in Rugby. It really makes you appreciate your own story and that you weren’t alone. Best of luck for the future
