“It takes really miserable weather for me to run on a treadmill. Today was one of those days, and I wondered how I would survive nine miles. A younger colleague suggested listening to a podcast. A light bulb went off; I listened to episodes 11&12 of Julie & Lisa’s podcast on running Boston (which I have run 11 times). They were fascinating, full of useful information, fun facts, and interesting participants. The treadmill miles ticked up with my hardly noticing. It truly one of the best treadmill run I have had. When Dan DiFonzo mentioned the importance of interval training, it reminded me to alternate MP & LSD miles. When Lisa said a month before Boston was a good time to try out new shoes, I was reminded to order mine (since done). While I will not be at Boston this year as I am running London two weeks later, I will listen to all the episodes before I cross the pond. I know I will pick up tips useful for any marathon course. I may not be getting any faster but I can always improve the efficiency of my running. Keep up the podcasts, Julie and Lisa!”
