New title: Men vs Women
Much like his other podcast, I want to like this one. I’ve tried I really have but for all the premise of “it’s just lads down the pub, bants, then on to the serious stuff”, it just always fails to materialise. It’s just a platform for every ‘right-on’ comedian to come on, Ivo Graham a case in point; decentish comedian but not one of the lads and always in a morally superior tone. Then you add the woman. It’s interesting that Russell says they are there as a moral auditor to make sure the male viewpoint is fair. That’s boilerplate for “we can’t trust men to have their own opinion”, maaaaaaate. Then it just flattens into a bland coffee session and no man learns anything except how a well off Guardian reader might raise their kids. It’s sterile. So what was the point? Let men be men, let women be women, and give men an actual enjoyable space to actually laugh at these things rather than it being treated like a guided meditation in a ‘safe space’
