In Australien gehört der heutige Anzac Day zum nationalen Bewusstsein. Den Veteranen mit einem Feiertag zu gedenken, ist dagegen in Deutschland nicht Sitte. Jetzt gibt es aber Pläne, auch in Deutschland den 15. Juni zum „Veteranentag“ zu machen. Bünyamin Werker ist Professor für Bildung und Erziehung im Kontext sozialer Arbeit an der Hochschule in Hannover und war lange Jahre in der Gedenkstätten-Pädagogik tätig. Im Gespräch geht es u.a. um die Bedeutung von Symbolik ohne eine entsprechende Reflexion.
