The Seeing White series on Scene on Radio podcast
As a blind senior with higher ed degrees in musics of other cultures, this series was and is a profound introduction to the white man-made lie of race. My own and others’ study in undoing racism was kindled or, in my case, rekindled by George Floyd’s murder. The episodes make glaringly clear and inescapable the need for me and for us to learn and face the racist structures built by our forefathers and sustained by most of us white folk even if we claim ignorance. This series built trust for me to continue learning of the U. S.’s horrifying continuous history of exploitation. As I read the history of Beavers in “Beaverland” by Leila Philips, I think Scene on Radio could braid this history into our savage greed to create the cancer of unlimited extorting work from humans and materials from animals and all other layers of life.

The "Seeing White" series is the most intelligent, nuanced podcast discussion of racist ideas out there. Worth listing to every episode, carefully and in full.Read full review »
