Microchip Technology Inc., a leading provider of microcontroller and analog semiconductors, and the Arizona FIRST Robotics Planning Committee, in conjunction with Arizona State University’s (ASU’s) Applied Learning Technologies Institute, announce the FIRST RoboTech Expo at Arizona State University (ASU) on October 28, 2006. The event will take place at the new ASU Downtown Phoenix Campus, located at 411 N. Central Avenue, from 9:30 AM to 3:30 PM. It will include a mini robotics competition, followed by workshops taught by FIRST volunteers on everything from team building, to fund raising, to safety and mentoring. The event will be free and open to the public. FIRST, “For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology,” is a worldwide, non-profit organization whose mission is to create a world where science and technology are celebrated, and students are inspired to pursue careers in math, engineering and technology. Chandler-based Microchip Technology is the Organizing Sponsor and a “Leader in Technology Sponsor” of the FRC Arizona Regional. The Company is also an Official Supplier to FIRST, with Its donations of semiconductor and development-tool products to all 1,300 FIRST robotics teams worldwide.
