Informative and Fun - Podcasting at its Best
Steve takes very technical subjects and breaks them down very cleanly for the semi-advanced lay user or tech person. I think this is the most informative podcast out there on a broad tech subject - not just talking heads arguing news of the day. - Do they get off the point and wander into things? Yes , but truthfully it is entertaining and I do not mind or I fast fwd a few minutes - I am still not buying a Kindle yet. - Do they do ads? Yes 2 or so plus a fun Spinrite story but compared to radio this is minor and fast fwd if you like. - Does Steve write major security papers? No. This is a broad ranging tech podcast and Steve is a great communicator and researcher. He admits to not being the top world authority on any specific security topic but does treat his subjects seriously and the guy codes in Assembly (this alone is geek credentials). - Do they sound doom and gloomish sometimes? Yes but your IT department knows if you do not push a bit on users, security messages just do not get across - how many password are peoples kids names or phone numbers I recommend you try this out and see if to your taste. You will learn something.

Steve Gibson is to the "Security Now!" netcasts as Richard Feynman is to the "Feynman Lectures on Physics". Both are classic scholarly courses, suitable for study and presented by veritable geniuses.Read full review »

I am a computer science major, and I love the way Steve can explain security issues so that everyone can understand them. This is a wonderful podcast.
