But.. ..when your partner says he doesn’t want to do couples therapy, a part of you sighs in relief because you’re afraid of what that might bring up for YOU. ..When he refuses to practice eye gazing with you because it’s ‘not his thing’, a part of you sighs in relief because you’re afraid of being seen. ..When he gets defensive and shuts down during a disagreement a part of you is glad it went this way because you feel more comfortable being angry and him than you do being vulnerable. You like to push the blame.. ‘it’s all him, not me’. But blaming his resistance is just a convenient way to ignore your own. You say you want that conscious, mature, masculine man but you know deep down it scares you because he will hold you accountable. He’ll call you out on your bs! He won’t let you play the victim!
