“I am a very long time listener, and barely miss an episode. I loved it when it started, and really struggled in year 3-ish when it felt like Zara and Michelle got too close to influencer culture to really analyze it that well in Australia for fear they’d hurt their newest friendships with said influencers. To be honest, it’s still very clear that their friendships with the KIC girls and OMR cloud their ability to talk about Aussie influencers like they used too, which was why I started listening from day dot.
The pod has gotten a lot better in the past year and a half, though it does seem to try almost too hard to toe the PC line. “Opinions” are predictable and seem less genuine at times because they’re clearly about what’s “right” versus what the hosts maybe feel but can’t say on a pod with like millions of downloads.
I miss the old long form segments, and really dislike the mail bag. I’m not 22 and I don’t care about these situational life issues that don’t relate to me. It’s not why I listen to shameless.
I still think it’s super interesting to hear the girls’ commentary and that’s why I tune in. I don’t always agree but I appreciate their viewpoints. I think the criticism about their accents on these reviews is awful, and telling someone to get speech therapy or other rude stuff is just not cool.
I genuinely wish this show the best and will keep listening but I hope they continue to develop the way they present the content so that it’s not so predictable, and let the girls have a controversial opinion but discuss why they know it might be controversial (and not in “my two cents”).
I do love the scandal episodes too and think they’re heaps better than the old in conversations!”
