Description
This show and all the work I do centering Black women is a celebration of US all year round, but in honor of Black History Month, I'm kicking off each episode over the next few weeks introducing you to women who were truly "doing that" long before many of us were born.   This week, I'm paying homage to Edna Lewis. The granddaughter of formerly enslaved people, Edna Lewis was born in 1916 in Freetown, Virginia and grew up to be a great chef, culinary ambassador, and caretaker of genuine Southern cooking. Mrs. Lewis transitioned in 2006 at the age of 89 and paved the way for all of the women we know in the culinary arts world including today's guest, Alex Hill better known as Just Add Hot Sauce. Alex Hill is a Washington, D.C. based, self-taught cook with a passion for making food that’s filled with flavor, functional and affordable.   Produced by Dear Media
