Description
We’re preparing for Final X on June 10 at the Prudential Center and USA Wrestling and Beat The Streets co-hosted a Zoom conference with World and Olympic champions Helen Maroulis and Jordan Burroughs on May 31. Maroulis, the first American woman to win an Olympic wrestling gold medal, discussed her performance at the Pan Ams, what she’s eager to see at another Final X, the documentary and her mental health. Burroughs will be competing in New Jersey for the first time since he was in college. He’ll talk about the chance to compete in his 11th Beat The Streets event, the makeup of his training and the move to 79 kg for this cycle until the time comes for him to move back down to the Olympic weight and what it’s been like to coach his own kids. The call was hosted by Jerry Milani and Richard Immel with BTS Executive Director Brendan Buckley. Asking questions during the call were Jason Bryant of Mat Talk Online, Andy Hamilton of FloSports, B.A. Schoen of Long Island Wrestling, Bill Evans of NJ Advance Media, and photographers Justin Hoch and Lisa Elfstrum.
