Chengdu, the hometown of giant pandas and one of the most vibrant cities in China, is hosting the 31st FISU Summer World University Games. Chengdu is the third city on the mainland to host the biennial event, following Beijing in 2001 and Shenzhen in 2011. Why are the Games significant? What does hosting the Games again mean to China?
