“This podcast is absolutely incredible! As another female twenty-something working towards my masters degree while trying to balance my love for all things prequels, Kylo Ren’s redemption, and Rebels, not to mention the intense anticipation for The Last Jedi, with my busy day-to-day life, the ladies absolutely meet me where I am with each and every episode. Each episode is well thought out, enthusiastic, intelligent, and very authentic. By authentic, I mean that the ladies do not cater to the whims of the fandom as a whole and further the agenda of popular fandom mindsets. For example, Charlotte stating that she enjoys Anakin and Padme’s relationship as a part of the story has been liberating to me, as someone who also likes Anidala and AotC, when most of fandom treats it as taboo. The ladies also advocate for Kylo’s redemption, something that I also see as a probable and desirable outcome, when much of fandom is in opposition to it. While I agree with the vast majority of Charlotte and Caitlin’s stances on the saga as a whole, I can also recommend this podcast to those who may not feel the same about some of the topics mentioned, because the intelligent, thought-provoking, well-thought discussion on each episode along with the evident lifelong friendship that these ladies share is an absolute joy to listen to. Having said all of this I would be remiss to fail to mention what champions these ladies are for the development and representation of female characters. They discuss the importance of characters like Padme who are very traditionally feminine, and highlight the importance of something that I hold very near to my heart: that in making a female character into a strong character, she need not be written with only what are traditional masculine characteristics. To wit, it’s completely fine and good for female characters to be feminine and like wearing dresses, and Padme is amazing.”
