“I don’t remember how I happened upon this podcast — I was never a podcast person, preferring music until I was about 24-25 years old. It was maybe during the pandemic that I listened to my first episode of this podcast and since then it’s been a weekly staple. I’m a choreographer and whilst dance isn’t usually a huge topic here (though I know all three hosts love a well-executed routine — who doesn’t though??), I’ve never encountered a podcast that made and performed the act of thinking with such aplomb, consideration — but also, most radically to me, joy! I’ll caveat this with saying I’m a critic, mostly poetry, and listening to Julia’s chilly elegant style, Stephen’s verbose enthusiasm (who gives me permission to just make up words), or Dana, who, weekly, has taught me it is okay (and interesting!) to be the odd one out regularly, as long you OWN your island, as she does so fluidly and convincingly. My week really starts on Wednesdays at 9am (which is when this podcast becomes available in London).”
