Description
Welcome back to another exciting episode of the Small Business Startup Essentials Show! I'm thrilled to have you join me today as we explore a topic that many entrepreneurs face: "What should you do when there is too much opportunity?" Get ready to navigate these murky waters with me here today about the possibilities and opportunities we face and discover how to make the most of our situation without getting sidetracked with too many shiny objects. So, let's dive right in! You know, I don’t know where you’re listening in to this podcast episode right now, about 60% of the listeners that I have are in the United States, another 10% in Canada another 10% in Australia and in New Zealand, another 10% is in Europe, and there’s fringe countries beyond that. But when you live in the United States, even though we’re still in the midst of a lot of struggles and I know that this country is far from perfect, don’t get me wrong, (there’s a lot of things going on lately that we’re all struggling with all around the world, actually). But life in the United States still brings a lot of opportunity. And it’s still, I think, one of the best places in the world to live in the midst of all of our issues and struggles. And if you’re multi talented, you know, if you have a lot of different abilities, a lot of different skills that you think are better than average and you really like to make the most of all of these different skills, and you’re also maybe a little like me and you have too many interests. OK. And you know, you have extra time on your hands and you might think you can handle taking on more than one thing. You know, my kids are grown, they’re out of the house. They’re adults. They have their own families. And it’s just me and my wife now. So I have the struggle of you know, time and I’m always interested in learning new things and I have to fight the constant battle in my head of wanting to take on something additional something new. And so, you know, I have too many interests and I struggle with this as well. So I’m not only talking to you the listener I’m talking to myself here as well. OK. Because having too many interests having too many different avenues that I’m involved in too many different projects dilutes everything. And recently I worked on a writing project to hopefully publish a book And I took a break from the podcast For a little while. In fact, I took two different breaks from the Podcast. And you know what? That’s OK, because I wanted my writing to be with clarity. I wanted my writing project to have real impact. I’m trying to see if I can publish a book. And that needs focus. So that’s what we’re talking about here, even though I have all these interests, and all these other things I want to work on, to have clarity in the writing I took a break from other things. And I posted something on my blog on the website and I made a Podcast episode about this…episode 24 called Three Critical Steps to Gain Clarity for Your Small Business’ and just so you know, hey, I’II look back at my own advice and my own content to take my own advice. It’s only fair, right? If I’m you know recommending a path to clarity for you, then I should be taking the same advice for myself as well. And so I recently revisited this little task, it’s basically a Venn Diagram, 3 converging circles with three topics and the first topic is ‘What ticks you off’ and by the way, I got this idea from my business coach Mike Kim, OK, Mike if you’re listening… hope you are… thanks. It’s helped me a lot and I’m passing it along. 3 converging circles 3 topics the first circle says what ticks you off? In other words, what gets you upset about what you’re seeing? The second circle that converges in the venn diagram is ‘What breaks your heart?’ OK this is the injustice you see in the world. So, what ticks you off, what really gets you upset? And by the way, ‘Ticks you
