Welcome to the Sounds Like a Search and Rescue Podcast! Also known as SLASR. Join an experienced search and rescue volunteer and his friend as they discuss all things related to hiking and search and rescue in the White Mountains of New Hampshire.
This week we enter the Great Gulf with a breakdown of all the trails and sights to see within the Great Gulf Wilderness. We will bring you through the various approaches you can use for day hiking and backpacking within this remote section of the White Mountains. Additionally we will cover a refresher on the strange disappearance of a lost hiker named Stephon Porith Sou from 2019. We have some updates on road openings, river crossings and the mount washington auto road. We will also update the latest drama in Conway over the Leavitt Country Bakery sign controversy. Stomp has some recent hiking updates, I’ll have a couple of history facts and we have recent search and rescue news including a missing hiker on the AT.
