Description
Musician and Actress Lily Allen came to fame in a pre-social media age, at a time when she was largely left to her own devices when it came to style and beauty decisions. This freedom led to iconic looks from the then-pop star who created her own style inspired by her friends, family and thrift stores in her hometown of London.  Today she’s based in New York and in this episode of Sounds & Style she reflects on her time as Karl Lagerfeld’s muse, the exclusive and exclusionary nature of the fashion business, and her love of high/low styling.  Lily and Lynette discuss the formative music and style influences of legendary Manchester club The Hacienda, Mike Skinner’s The Streets, Amy Winehouse’s authentic styling, and feminist punk band The Slits.  Check out a mix of Lily’’s mix of music over at NTS Presenter - Lynette Nylander Producer - Connor Gani Exec producer - Lizzy King Sound design - Jennifer Walton Hosted on Acast.
