“Hi there Eve and Corinne! I just wanted to give you two a shout-out and say thank you so much for making this podcast and for sharing such an honest and dynamic reflection of the struggles translators may face. I live on a tiny island in Southeast Alaska and am often fairly isolated from other professional translators, and listening to your podcast provides an enjoyable sense of connection to the community. I haven't had a chance to listen to every episode yet, but something I personally have been deliberating is just how much value one could gain from attending translator conferences, such as the ATA conference coming up. I'm sure you're both familiar with the milieu of conferences, continued ed opportunities, and organizations that are available for translators, each carrying their own price tag. It's all too easy to get caught up in spending money to make yourself a better translator, and I would love to hear what you two have to say about this. If you're open to taking suggestions for episodes, perhaps you could provide some insight as to the importance of creating personal/professional connections with other translators, attending conferences, and investing in continued ed courses, etc. (Also, Corinne, if you and your family have not travelled to Southeast Alaska - judging by your passions for the outdoors - I feel you all would LOVE it here. I live in Sitka, we have both mountains and ocean within a 10 minute walk from the house; it's an outdoor adventurer's dream...check it out!) Thanks again ladies, I'm really looking forward to listening to more episodes!”
