“I was really excited for a show that pulled apart and analysed in depth our weird, macabre, and slightly off-putting obsession with true crime. Instead, this was just a description of different true crime genres, with cases discussed through other podcasts/TV shows/films rather than the cases themselves (taking these second hand sources as gospel) and then 5 minutes at the end going ‘oh yeah but isn’t it weird that we’re so obsessed with this’. I wanted less gawking at the cases we all know and more actual analysis of the psychology behind society’s true crime fad.”
