Bill’s Pontification-cast.
I really want to like this. Lloyd has all the perspective that a good podcaster should have - he plays a wide spectrum of games; he is a collector and a fan of multiple consoles. He puts in the time; he listens more and talks less - which means when he does speak it has weight and meaning. Bill on the other hand does the opposite. Facilitating is one thing. He talks like he has years of industry experience - yet doesn’t. Playing games 15 years ago does not an expert make. Just because one is a teacher doesn’t mean they should - especially on topics they don’t have the knowledge of. I’m having trouble putting my finger on what it is... there is a fine line between confidence and arrogance. It’s on display when Bill makes his comments towards Canada or other countries. If you listen for any length of time you get that he’s trying to be humorous. But when it’s said with the tone and attitude he chooses to maintain during the show - it falls flat and feels xenophobic. Very cringeworthy and certainly not the desired result. In a recent episode he referenced a Stadia announcement detailing expansion to other countries. His reaction was “This doesn’t matter to me at all...” The point he later tried to make was that although it didn’t impact him directly it might have been the biggest announcement they have made in recent months (or at least in this press release). Again - when you maintain a presence that is more ‘matter-of-fact’ ‘lecture-based confidence’ - the audience has no context for taking your words as tounge-in-cheek. Instead it just falls flat and plays borderline offensive. Dial down the confidence level by 40, turn up the humility and self-effacement by 60 and good god let Lloyd speak more as he is the one that actually plays the games. I think then this could really be something. Good mics, great production - it’s refreshing to hear. Now let’s get two hosts that have the same passion for the content - then we’ve got a winner.

More reviews of Stadia Cast
I joke, I think it’s the only Stadia podcast, but it’s nevertheless a great start! The hosts enjoy each other’s company and the banter is fun. They are generally positive but also don’t give Google a pass on things that they should be doing a better job on. It’s in my weekly rotation.

I’ve been listening to this podcast for some time but decided I needed to update my review. It’s good... but frankly it comes across as if it’s sponsored by Google rather than as an Independent fan cast. I believe the co-hosts get most of their games for free from Google (or perhaps the...Read full review »

Game streaming is the future, there is no way getting around it. While it's yet to be seen if Google's attempt at it will be successful, this podcast aims to discuss issues related to it. The hosts are both knowledgeable and engaging. So far it's been only 3 or 4 episodes, but...Read full review »
